Job Description
Teachers will prayerfully enable students to learn subject matter, skills, and attitudes that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible Christian men and women to the praise and glory of God.
Spiritual Leadership
- Maintains active involvement in a local church
- Maintains a consistent relationship with Jesus Christ through Bible study and prayer
- Daily walk with Christ is evident in speech, actions, and attitudes
- Follows Matthew 18 principle with students, parents, and colleagues
- Maintains a teachable spirit
- Fosters positive Christian relationships with students and parents
- Leads students in prayer and devotion
- Leads students toward Spiritual maturity
- Encourages students to accept God’s gift of salvation and grow in their faith
- Assists students in the development of a Christian mind and lifestyle
Professional Responsibilities
- Maintains a lifestyle that demonstrates the school mission statement
- Maintains accurate records
- Prepares and submits weekly lesson plans on time
- Complies with board policies and procedures
- Represents the school in a favorable and professional manner to the constituency and general public
- Attends and participates in faculty, committee, and devotional meetings
- Communicates with families
- Uses acceptable English in written and oral communication
- Communicates with administration
- Progresses in professional growth requirements: content areas, instructional methods
- Reflects on teaching and creates a professional growth plan
- Contributes to the school (extra-curricular: sponsorship or attendance)
- Maintains current ACSI/State certificates as required
- Implements system and school initiatives
- Demonstrates educational leadership
Classroom Environment
- Creates an environment of respect and rapport through reinforcement and praise without partiality or sarcasm
- Facilitates classroom procedures
- Manages student behavior: Creates classroom rules, routines, and procedures that allow students to assume responsibility for themselves

Planning & Preparation
- Demonstrates knowledge of content and pedagogy (the art and science of teaching)

Skills/Requirements
- Teacher must have completed at least 24 semester hours in subject taught for *major part of the day.
- Teacher must have completed at least 12 semester hours in subject taught for **less than major part of the day.
- Teacher must have completed at least 12 hours in professional education coursework.
- Teachers who do not meet standards listed above must complete the necessary coursework within 2 school years of receiving initial teaching assignment at any CAL school.
- Teachers must meet certification guidelines required to obtain and maintain active ACSI teacher certification throughout employment at CAL.
- The CAL administration reserves the right to create individual plans of compliance for those teachers hired prior to the approval of this policy.
- The CAL administration reserves the right to hire the most qualified teaching candidate available and make exception to the above criteria as necessary.
